Welcome to my webpage!
Most interested in the dynamics of wetlands and biodiversity across landscapes, I draw on my technical background as an Agronomic Eng. & Ph.D. in Biology to explore the multidisciplinary aspects governing the use and conservation of natural resources across the tropics. My goal as a Scientist is to innovate in applied science with a positive impact on conservation and education, specifically by promoting the understanding, protection, restoration, and sustainability of wetland and aquatic ecosystems in the context of climate change, human population growth, and environmental degradation. My work and research environment is diverse. I have been interacting with different stakeholders such as students, local producers, private institutions, government, and scientists from Brazil, Mexico, and the U.S.A. Currently, I serve as the leader of the IUCN CEM Wetland Ecosystem Group (Former Co-chair of the International Chapter of the Society of Wetland Scientists from 2019 to 2025). In this role, I aim to promote wetland science, education, and protection, establish far-reaching networks of wetland scientists, and facilitate collaborative partnerships between institutions and scientists worldwide. |
